Mchakato Shirikishi ni Nini?
A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic. It’s not a one-off activity—it’s a journey where the communitie's voice helps guide action.
It might look like this:
Start with a survey – Share your experiences or priorities (e.g. what challenges your community is facing).
Submit ideas – Suggest ways to improve the situation.
Join discussions – Talk about those ideas with others online or in person.
Vote – Choose the best ideas or solutions together.
Examples:
Cash assistance program design: Communities share which needs are most urgent, propose criteria for support, and vote on priority groups.
Designing services for women and girls: Community members propose safe spaces or activities and prioritize which ones to invest in.
Planning a peacebuilding project: Youth, religious leaders, and elders propose and agree on local peace initiatives to receive funding or training.
